Carmel School started in 1868 by Mother Veronica of the Passion who formerly was Sophie Leeves; she established the Apostolic Carmel. She was born in 1823 to English Anglican parents in Constantinople, was an intelligent and compassionate woman due to the educational and other factors. However, she was not supported by her Protestant family and converted to Catholicism in the year 1850 and this was touching her. It is for the love for her fellow human beings that Mother Veronica gladly accepted the invitation to be in religious life. This brought her to establish the Apostolic Carmel and this has remained one of her most daring feats. It also reflects her dream of schooling that is based on faith as well as compassion. Today, this tradition is carried on at Carmel School and the goal of the school is to prepare children, academically, spiritually and emotionally. Thus, encouraged by Mother Veronica, the school continues to foster good-hearted people who undertake worthy activities in the society.
