The foundation of St. Paul’s School can be dated back to when it was started in 1964 in a more humble manner. Fr. To start this new venture in Rourkela, the project was placed under the charge of Thomas Morris, SVD, an Irish priest working in Sundergarh District. When he came back to Nigeria from England in 1963, Fr. Morris then befriended Mrs Ethel Brown, a British war widow and his fellow traveler in the ship. He proposed to provide her shelter in Rourkela and she decided to work under him by managing an English medium school. It had only about 50 pupils in Standards 4, 5 and 6 in a tin shack beside a small chapel. These boys were earlier from Carmel School which was managed by Carmel Sisters who shifted their exclusive aim and mission to educate girls only. This was the genesis of St. Paul’s School which has expanded and transformed into what is today and has always been preoccupied with offering quality education and molding holistically great students. This foundation that was rooted in community and collaboration gave the school the footing from which it would grow and continue to progress.
