Nazareth Academy School

Nazareth Academy has had its share of history that has taken over seventy-five years. It is important to note that it was not initially known as the Nazareth Academy. The school was initially started as Saint Michael’s School on February 2, 1939 in a house constructed on Katari Hill Road under the principal ship of Mother Engelbert, IBMV. This was the first Convent School in Gaya and was running in Hindi medium also. The school shifted in 1942 to the present location and the next year it was handed over to the Loreto Sisters from Calcutta who gave it the name Loreto Convent and followed the Cambridge system. However due to lack of people to run the school, the Loreto Sisters had to close the school by end of that year 1950. History however replayed itself when on 28th December 1950 four courageous Sisters of Charity of Nazareth from Kentucky, USA started the school. Such a shift signified the start a new chapter in the history of the elite institution to continue the mission of offering quality education and giving care, support and direction to the young learners.
