R.S.(Rashtriya Sanskrit) Model Senior Secondary School, Ludhiana affiliated to PSEB was established in the year 1951, with 61 students and 3 teachers, as a primary school in the compound of the Arya Samaj Mandir, Model town ,Ludhiana, with the aim of promoting Sanskrit, the language of Vedas and to inculcate Vedic Culture among the future citizens of India. It was upgraded to middle school in 1959 and to High school in 1965. Under the new Education Policy, school started 10+2 system for girls in 1987-88 which was extended for boys as well in 2001-02. In 1979 school shifted to its present complex sprawling over an area of 6 acres with well – lit class-rooms, state of the art, science and computer labs, three libraries with 18950 books, an auditorium, a Yajyashala to inculcate Vedic culture and vast play- grounds for field and track events . The school has strength of 4000 students and well qualified faculty of 180 teachers along with support staff that provides value based and quality education to future citizens of India.
