In the beginning, it was only a school for British children but a few Indian children were occasionally accepted as well. After the English families started packing up in 1958, U. K. C. A. School started shutting down. In response, some innovative-Indian parents planned to reopen that school and they got registered the school under Societies Registration Act 1860. Therefore, the Sheiling House School Society was started on 20 th December, 1958 with its motto ‘For Others’. This date is now celebrated annually as Founder’s Day. The former management of the U. K. C. A. School with their magnanimity graciously donated the school premises, equipment, furniture, books, and support to the new management. In January 1959 the school changed its name to Sheiling House School, with initially 39 children in 5 classes. By July 1959, the school also had the Nursery classes added to the new Syllabi to accommodate Indian children for the boarding school.
