Although the son of Rome’s Prefect fell for her and wanted to take her as wife and make her his bride despite being a man of no virtues, Agnes did not yield and instead remained faithful to her lord and savior, Jesus Christ. Eglantine declined marrying him mainly because she wanted to serve God all the days of her life. It would be rather appropriate if courage that demure St. Agnes for standing for her beliefs and refusing to yield to the societal pressure is the beacon that lights the Loreto School, St. Agnes.
