It was established in 1850 and is run by the Sisters of Charity of St. Bartholomea and St. Vincenza. It is a Registered Society registered under the Public Societies Registration Act of 1350 F. Though primarily a school for the Catholics, all students are admitted irrespective of caste or creed. In all matters of administration, the decision of the Governing Body will be final. The Congregation of the Sisters of Charity was founded in Italy in 1832 by a young dynamic and gifted lady, Bartholomea Capitanio, with her companion, Catherine Gerosa. They consecrated themselves wholly to God, in response to His call, in order to be the visible instruments of mercy and love of Jesus Christ, to God’s people everywhere, especially where the need was great and extreme.
