One hot afternoon, Dr. Mujumdar, tall and slightly built, was standing by the window which over looked the first Hostel Block in which he was the rector. He followed a girl who used to go to the window of a boy’s hostel room, drop something and instantly run away. He got interested and thought that, maybe, an affair was going on. Adament on getting to the bottom of it, Dr. Mujumdar one day knocked on the door of the room. He went inside to discover a Mauritian student, weak and with a hollow face with eyes sunken deep in their sockets. This situation made the student feel sheer helpless which in turn sparked Dr. Mujumdar’s dream of developing a home away from home for the international students. For Symbiosis International School, it has become a reality today where the school aims to educate students from diverse backgrounds by offering a comprehensive education that embraces human values, cultural diversities, and differences for the students’ academic, social, and personal development.
